June 2023 Committee Updates
Technical Committee
The AMAP Board of Directors has approved the revised glossary and it is on the website and is downloadable with AMAP branding. The AMAP History committee is completing the plans and questions for the AMAP annual meeting in Jacksonville, Florida, October 2023. The AMAP Board of Directors has also approved the first of three videos that will be labeled and posted to the AMAP website soon. Sustainability has taken on a life of its own with Bob Kluttz leading the EPD Task Force working with the Asphalt Institute and NAPA – National Asphalt Pavement Association. Swathi Theeda is working with the subcommittee to draft the first white paper – Moisture Damage in Asphalt Pavements.
Membership Committee
As we continue to grow the AMAP membership, we continue to seek opportunities to increase value for our existing members through leveraging our industry partnerships and our member companies. Over the past quarter, the Membership Committee has partnered with Communications Committee to strategize on broadening the organization’s outreach at upcoming industry conferences and tradeshows. The membership committee consists of myself, Jason Cox (D&H Equipment), Luis Torres Figueroa (Western Emulsions), and Terry Hegner (Cook Chemical).
Four companies have joined AMAP during the second quarter of 2023: QMax Industries, Honeywell International, Cargill Asphalt Solutions, and Lion Elastomers. We look forward to seeing everyone in Jacksonville in October! If you know of any prospect companies or contacts who would be interested in joining AMAP, please refer them to me or any member of the membership committee.
Communications Committee
AMAP Communications Committee is working on several key initiatives this quarter. Currently, we plan to provide updates on ongoing AMAP committee work at several key industry events including NAPA Mid-year, Asphalt Institute summer meeting, and upcoming user producer group meetings. We also have a new initiative of acquiring testimonials from “trilogy members” about value/benefits of being members of all three AMAP, NAPA, AI.
As we get closer to our October annual conference in Jacksonville, FL, you will continue to see more information on annual meeting details via email and LinkedIn. There will be an agenda and speaker highlights coming up in Q3 on LinkedIn to prepare you for the annual conference.
We presently have the AMAP “Jobs Board” utilized by AMAP members to promote job openings under the resources tab of the AMAP website. Members can submit a job for posting by contacting us via e-mail.
Advisory Committee
The 2023 second quarter was the start of a new AMAP Committee – the Advisory Committee. The Advisory Committee is comprised on three subcommittees focusing on The Roofing Industry, Paving Industry, and Agencies (DOT’s, Federal, and local). Each of the subcommittees are led by AMAP members. Invitations to join the subcommittees were sent out with an overwhelming positive result.
A meeting will be held once a quarter to discuss the hot topics and see how AMAP can help address each of them with the help of our other committees. This may include educational webinars, white papers, and social media awareness of different types of products and processes. This quarter’s meetings kicked-off with great conversation and collaboration within each of the groups.
AMAP is looking forward to Q3 to dive deeper into some of the topics, such as Sustainability, EPDs, Recycled Materials with Modifiers, & Binder Modification & Testing. This is a step toward great collaboration between organization within the industry!
