Company Description | MARC helps define, address and advance aspects of modified asphalts, pursuing the most pressing and promising research needs for this growing technology. MARC works across departments at UW-Madison and in cooperation with petroleum producers, additive manufacturers and industry stakeholders. The center’s mission is to conduct and coordinate fundamental and applied research in the field of superior, sustainable, and durable asphalt paving technologies through: - Leading Edge Research: The center strives to be at the leading edge of development and implementation of innovative testing methods for asphalt binders and mixtures. Our main areas of technical expertise includes: Modified binders, PG+ procedures, Warm, cold mix and foamed asphalts, Emulsions, Crumb rubber modified asphalt, Binder rejuvenators, Aggregate packing and structure, Recycled asphalt pavements (RAP), Moisture damage, Aggregate coating, Mechanical rutting analysis, Noise emissions, Pavement friction, Pavement cracking, Pavement image analysis. - Technology Transfer & Training: Activities are to disseminate knowledge related to best practice for use of modified asphalts and their potential impacts on pavement performance. MARC Promotes: - Short Courses: UW-MARC director Professor Hussain Bahia delivered training courses in Brazil, Chile, and Colombia. Current projects between states in USA: Alaska, Washington, Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Wyoming, California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas, Illinois, Ohio, Nebraska, Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Iowa.
